The artnet.ch site was created in September 1995 in Geneva, Switzerland. Since then, its purpose has remained unchanged:
- to focus exclusively on the promotion of artists and their work
- to present a selection of artists worthy of interest and a representative sample of their works
- to ban all advertising on artnet.ch.
