Jean-François Berger was born in Geneva in 1952. He started oil painting when he was eight years old (Cours Martenot).
After a long interruption, he took up painting ten years ago and completed courses in expression and composition (Charles Vogt) and in figure drawing (Pascal Saini) at the Decorative Arts School in Geneva.
For over 30 years, Jean-François Berger worked in various countries as a delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). He is currently working as a historian, film script writer and author. According to informed sources, « he is frequently roaming around at night with his paintbrushes at hand ».
