Biography
Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 29 June 1974, the painter Aurélien Stuby initially trained in acoustics, electroacoustics and sound recording techniques.
The mental pictures generated by the various elements of sound during sound mixing sessions impressed on him the possibility and even the need for him to paint.
More
In response to an increasing need for self-expression, Aurélien turned to painting’s (potentially infinite) creative universe in 1998, while attempting to transcribe, pictorially, a piece of music. Since then, he has unceasingly concentrated on this medium.
His technique combines acrylic paint, walnut stain and India ink applied to tissue paper glued to white laminated panels. His working techniques range from watercolors to the built-up painted surfaces with which he investigates the interplays of light and depth.
